The link above is to the Occupational Work Ethic Inventory (OWEI). A strong work ethic is generally associated with those who are motivated to perform to the best of their ability. This quick survey provides scores for interpersonal skills, initiative, and being dependable - all important traits to possess in the workplace. For each category, you will receive a score out of seven. Results serve as a basis for comparing your work ethic to others.
My scores were as follows:
Interpersonal Skills: 6.25
Initiative: 5.94
Dependability: 6.86
My score for interpersonal skills show I am able to effectively communicate and interact with others whether it be individually or in a group. Employers generally seek people with strong interpersonal skills as they are able to work as a team to benefit the company. My lowest score was in the initiative category showing me that I need to seek opportunities a bit more frequently. Since employers cannot observe every employee all the time, having initiative allows for less procrastination and more production. My best score was for dependability representing that I am punctual, reliable, and honest. Those who are not dependable can become costly for employers due to wasted time and resources.
From this survey, I have learned that I interact well with others and am a reliable employee. However, for this year I need to remember demonstrate more initiative by asking questions about what I can be doing and showing enthusiasm to learn while I am there.
